Located on a corner lot in downtown Sanderson. facing two streets with 109 foot Main Street frontage. The building is about 109 ft. by about 39 ft. for a total of about 8500 sq. ft. A one-story addition to the rear is roughed in for a commercial kitchen.New wiring, plumbing, and mechanical necessary. Two restrooms are roughted in on the lst floor. The basic structure is solid masonry - hollow building tile clad with red brick on the exterior; stucco on interior walls.
The old vaudeville stage. Were told by
oldtimers that there was originally a runway where the steps are now. There are four side anti-rooms.
Later, in the 30s, it became a movie theater.
Some of the original metal ceiling is still in place, but some was removed and
stored for reuse. The building was reportedly "engineered" by railroaders who used cables rather than beams
to hold the building apart.
The west end of the theater. Double doors originally entered the "Confectionary" or
Drug Store which together with the theater took up the whole first floor. The double doors on the left
opened to the South which was originally Main Street. Now, Hwy 90 is the Main Street and runs parallel to
